ITR-V Form

ITR-V is an acknowledgement form generates after one files income tax return. It stands for “Income Tax Return-Verification form” as it verifies your tax return submissions. For Government site, once you E-file Income Tax return, IT department sends this form to your registered email id. With All India ITR, this form generates automatically when you E-file your returns. This form can be downloaded from the user dashboard and filled up with all necessary information. The downloaded form will be opened with a password which is a combination of your PAN card and DOB. Missing the deadline of 120 days for submitting ITR-V will make your E-filing invalid. On such circumstances, you will need to file a revised return and have to send a fresh ITR-V to CPC, Bangaluru.

Either access or All India ITR and log into your account. In there, click on “ITR-V Receipt Status” option and it will display if CPC has received your form or not.

If ITR-V get rejected then the first thing you need to do is finding the reason for it. Click on the acknowledgement number and it will show the reason. If it says “Filing date has exceeded the due date” then it means that you have forgotten to sign the form before sending it to CPC, Bangaluru. Also, it gets rejected if it was folded or staple and in those cases, just rectify the mistake and resend a fresh form.

The EVC can be generated by four methods. Through Net banking, Adhaar number, ATM and by E-filing income tax. For first three methods, you will have to use the e - filing website to generate and link an EVC to your IT return. In case of E-filing, it generates automatically when you file taxes in essential cases.

The password for ITR-V is a combination of PAN and DOB of the taxpayer. The PAN should be in lower case and the DOB should be in ddmmyyyy format.
